Fruity & Floral - Rwanda, Gaseke

Classic Red Bourbon, fully washed from the Gaseke washing station in the Nyamagabe region of Southern Rwanda. Around 500 small producers deliver cherries to the Gaseke station. One of the secondary roles for coffee washing stations in Rwanda is to also act as a community center for the surrounding villages. In a coop like atmosphere, coffee producers also work together to farm other staple crops like maize, beans and even livestock, that benefits the whole community. The coffee stations, like Gaseke have also served a critical roll in rebuilding the economy and the sense of community post genocide.  Gaseke’s washed coffee provides excellent body and lovely acidity with notes of plum and brown sugar. Also common in many Rwandan coffees, there is an interesting tannin-like structure in the body.
